| | Just a little about myself - well, where do I start, I never know what to write in these things to make me sound interesting. I'm a local Nelson artist and I've been doing my fine-line-work for around 10 years now - it all started one day when I was at my parents place in Atawhai and I was sitting in their garden thinking what an awesome scene I had before me and I just had an urge to draw (yes, draw, not paint) their garden. On completion, I was quite impressed in what I had accomplished and didn't realize that I had that in me (though I loved art at school and it was one of my better subjects - probably because I enjoyed going to classes as I had a eccentric 70-year-old teacher who always used to entertain us, more so with her antics, ie. doing splits on the front desk, rather than actually showing us how to be accomplished painters or drawers - we basically did our own thing - which on looking back, was probably the key, as I think we all developed our own style!) I was never really into painting, drawing was my thing and I've stuck to it.
Anyway, from that time in my parents garden - I moved onto drawing friends houses and then onto doing commissions and it has become a real hobbie for me. Each time I sit down to draw I get such a thrill as to what will be the finished result on the page - creating something from nothing is pretty neat!
